Medicare Coverage for Nutrition Counseling
Medicare covers Medical Nutrition Therapy for:
- Diabetes
- Chronic kidney disease (Stages 3–5)
- Post-kidney transplant (within 36 months)
Coverage includes:
3 hours in the first calendar year
2 hours in each following year
A referral from your Medicare provider is required.
If services are not covered by Medicare, supplemental plans typically do not provide additional coverage.
